Frequently Asked Questions
Physiotherapy FAQ’s
What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is the use of many treatments/inputs that help patients with a multitude of issues such as pain relief, healing and rehabilitation of injury, medical and surgical conditions.
Physiotherapy usually addresses pain/injury through methods such as; hands on treatment, massage, advice and education, exercise prescription, posture correction, joint manipulation, biomechanical and gait analysis and much more.
Are Physios doctors?
What to wear to a Physio appointment?
How long is a Physio appointment?
Our appointments are 30 mins or 1 hour. We often recommend an hour for the initial assessment but do get in touch and we can advice which will suit your situation best.
Can a Physio help arthritis?
Absolutely, there’s so much that can be done! We appreciate there’s a lot of information (including misinformation) out there, so we find out what’s best for you, with your individual situation. We have great results utilising strategies such as biomechanical assessment, soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, exercises and also education and advice surrounding options such as lifestyle changes, injections or supplementations.
Can a Physio help sciatica?
Can a Physio help neck pain?
Yes, it’s a hugely common area for issues and there’s lots we can do to help. We look at the neck from a holistic and multifaceted point of view to ensure we are treating you and your individual anatomy. We can assess and treat a host of issues; from nerve, postural, strength to spinal, and much more!
Can a Physio help back pain?
Absolutely – one of our most commonly seen pain and injury areas and one which causes such frustration and debilitation understandably. There is lot of misinformation out there regarding back pain so we ensure to treat you as an individual and look as every possible cause. The spine is hugely complex and relies on the interaction of muscles, tendons, ligaments, discs, bone, cartilage and connective tissue to help it function correctly. The good news is; we can assess and direct treatment to all those areas to great success! You no longer need to suffer with your ‘bad back’ – there will be a solution!

Posted on Josh Walmsley They have fixed me many times! Alex is a miracle workerPosted on naomi hadley Had my 1st session with Rick yesterday after bodging my knee somehow. By the end of the session my pain was much lower and my rom was much improved. Very knowledgeable! Highly recommended by me!Posted on James Sprittles I’ve had appointments with both Alex and Emily at Edgbaston/Moseley and have been amazed by the improvement since beginning with them. They have been able to both relieve muscle pain/tightness whilst giving me a bespoke training plan to improve my future health. I would certainly recommend them.Posted on Jagtar Marway I have been having treatment from Jezzi for for a couple of years now for different issues. She is able to pinpoint the areas causing the issues and work on them with long term plans to prevent them from reappearing. I have seen different physios over many years but I have to say her treatment is the best for me.Posted on Rebecca Brennan I have been going for physiotherapy at Achieve (Edgbaston) for over 4 years and continue to do so. I have seen Rickie, Jezzy and Mitzi. They are all great. Achieve was recommended to me and I have recommended them to others seeking out a physiotherapist. Definitely give them a try if you are looking for a physio.Posted on M Rai I’ve been seeing Rick at Achieve Health over the past few months and he’s helped tremendously with my back pain. I highly recommend Achieve Health who provide a holistic assessment and a good mix of physical therapy with self-care advice to keep potential future issues at bay.Posted on Efe Okoro ‘Highly recommending’ Achieve Health may be a massive understatement… I am currently seeing Rickie and Beth for Physiotherapy and deep tissue work and I am super impressed! Not only are they both immensely knowledge and professional, but the teamwork between them also means my sessions are specific, targeted and I am always aware of the steps needed in my rehabilitation, which I have not experienced at other physiotherapy establishments! Having a gym where they can show and watch my rehab exercises is also a massive plus for me! Thanks Achieve!!!!Posted on Manjinder Singh Just over a year ago I decided to finally see a physio after 6months of back pain at 25! I couldn't stand up properly, sit down or lie down. I went to see Jezzie and she pretty quickly narrowed down the possibilities and got to work. Over the past year she's methodically brought me back to my best, something i've not felt for a few years, and offered plenty of exercises/workout plans to continue on my own. Now I go for maintenance appointments every quarter. Jezzie is conversational and knows her job and physiotherapy like the back of her hand, she has fountain of knowledge which puts me at ease as a client.Google rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 239 reviews
